Termite Scan
Most people arrive here holding a photo, a pile of pellets, or a handful of wings off a windowsill, and one question: is this the expensive problem or the annoying one?
Termite Scan is a guided identifier that answers exactly that — without making you call a salesperson first. I am building it now, and it is not ready yet.
One thing before anything else: put what you found in a ziplock bag, and photograph it on something white next to a coin for scale. Whatever happens next, you will want that photo.
How it will work
Describe what you found
Insects, wings, pellets, tubes or damaged wood — start from whatever you actually have in front of you.
Answer a few narrowing questions
Where it was, what it looked like, and what season it is. Each answer rules groups in or out.
Get a plain-English read
Which termite group it points to, how confident that is, and what to check next before calling anyone.
What it will not do: tell you how bad the problem is. Nobody can judge the extent of an infestation from a photo — not this tool, and not me. Identification tells you which problem you have, not how far along it is.
