How I make money
Right now, I don't. That will change, and this page is where you'll see it change.
What is true today
- No affiliate links. There are none on the site.
- No paid listings. The provider directory isn't running yet, and no company has paid for anything.
- No referral fees. Nobody is being connected to anybody, and no money changes hands when you read a page.
- No advertising, no sponsorships, no sponsored posts.
- Nothing is collected from you except what you choose to send.There's no newsletter and no tracking pixel. There is a form atget help: what you type into it is emailed to the same single inbox an email to me would reach, and it goes nowhere else. Not to a contractor, not to a call centre, not to a lead network, and never resold.
I'd rather tell you that plainly than write a page of principles about editorial independence.
What will eventually make money, and the rule for each
Three things are planned. Each one carries a disclosure obligation, and the rule is the same in every case: the disclosure appears where you meet the thing being disclosed, in normal type, before you act on it. Not in a footer, not in grey 11px, and not on a page you'd have to go looking for.
Affiliate links
Some links to products will eventually earn a commission if you buy through them, at no extra cost to you. When that starts, any page carrying one will say so at the top, above the first link, in body type. I'll also say when something I recommend has no affiliate programme available, because that happens and it's worth knowing.
The provider directory
Some listings will be paid. Paid listings will be labelled Paid on the listing itself, at the top, every time. Paying will affect placement in the paid slot and nothing else — not the order of the free listings, not what I write about a company anywhere on this site.
What money can't buy on Termite Registry is my backing.No listing will ever mean I endorse a company or stand behind the work it does. The name sounds official. It isn't, and I'm not going to trade on the confusion.
Referral fees
If you ask to be connected to a licensed operator, I may be paid a referral fee by that company. Three commitments go with that, and they're the difference between a directory and a lead farm:
- The form will say I may be paid before you submit it, not after, and not on a page you'd have to click through to.
- Your details go only to the specific company you choose. Not to a network of buyers, not to a call centre, and never resold.
- The free path stays open and visible next to the paid one. Every page with a form on it will link to instructions for finding and checking a licensed operator yourself, and that page will always be free.
What I won't take money for
Sponsored posts. Paid guest posts. Link sales. Payment to remove a criticism or change a rating. Payment to write about a product. Selling your contact details to anyone you didn't ask to be connected with.
