I am not a licensed pest control operator. I'm not an entomologist, I don't have a degree in any of this, and I have never taken a course in it. Nothing on this site is checked by anyone who holds a licence.
That goes first because it's the thing you need in order to weigh everything else. If a page here ever reads as though I'm licensed, that's an error and I want to hear about it.
James Frame is a pen name. It doesn't stand for a team, an agency, or a rotating cast of freelancers. One person writes every word on this site, and every "I" on it is the same human being. The reasoning behind the pen name is on theabout page.
What I do here
I read the primary sources and write down what they say, in plain English, with the citations attached. University extension publications from the land-grant schools. EPA guidance and the National Pesticide Information Center. State agriculture departments and structural pest control boards. The pesticide labels, which are legally binding federal documents that almost nobody opens. The actual forms — the NPMA-33, the VA circulars, the state regulations.
Then I say what I'd do. That part is opinion and it's marked as opinion. The longer version of the method, and what I refuse to do, is on the about page; the sourcing rules I hold myself to are ineditorial standards.
There is no photo of me on this page
There's no stock photo standing in for one either, and no generated face. A pen name with an invented portrait attached is a lie of a different order than a pen name, and it's the kind that gets found out. So: no picture. Judge the work.
Everything I've published
2 articles so far. It's a short list because the site is new. I'd rather it stay short and be right than fill out to look established. Everything below is dated, sourced at the bottom of the page, and re-read on the schedule ineditorial standards.
I also wrote the pages that set out how this site operates: what I will and won't do (about), where facts have to come from (editorial standards), how money reaches me (how I make money), and every error I've corrected so far (corrections).
How to check my work
Every article ends with its sources, linked and dated, and the point of that block is that you can go read them without me. Where the only figures available come from sites that won't say how they got them, I leave the number out and say so on the page rather than repeat it.
If I've got something wrong, tell me. Corrections get published with a date and a description of what was wrong, not folded quietly into an edit. I'd rather be corrected than be quoted being wrong.
